taking the hint
Have you ever decided that someone just plain doesn't like you? What was your basis? Did you use your razor-sharp intuition, or did you call them several times in succession, realizing after the 5th call that they had caller ID and were intentionally not picking up?
Have you ever decided someone hated you and learned later that you were wrong?
That happens to me often. Ask Dave and Artec and half of my ex-coworkers from the Red Mill. Turns out they all just have a talent for simulating austerity. Or they're austere but friendly - I don't really see those two qualities as harmonious, but it's possible.
How do you deal when one of your SO's friends seems to dislike you? Especially when your SO goes out of his way to get you two in the same place/conversation, and the friend seems to be making an effort to be warm - rather than warmth just coming naturally? No, I'm not looking for advice here - I don't need all of his friends to like me.
I'm not usually willing to be pushy or nonneutral enough to really give people the opportunity to say they don't like me unless I feel like being abrasive; I tend to try to read how a person is responding to me and behave in a way that I imagine fits with what they want from me. The end result: lots of nebulous acquaintances, very few friends who really know me.
That's kind of OK.
Have you ever known someone who read you selections from their journal? And not just the poems, the real stuff?
I witness this with wonder and confusion.
I'd like to know: if you're showing me these pages - where do you keep your secrets?

wow kiddo, question am i a friend or just a nebulous aquaintaince? strang im having a similar situation my crush's room mate hates me literaly hates me...doesnt even like my name being mentioned. when confronting her on the subject she claims she has no idea why she hate me she just does. For me this is unacceptable and i cant seem to let it drop and the more she hates me the harder i try to make her my friend, whats wrong with me that i feel a need to make every one love me? its starting to suck : )
